Reactions to ICE Raids
If you're an American and have been paying attention, then you're likely aware of the Trump administration's raids on American cities by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (better known as ICE). The agency has been under fire for its aggressive detainments — going as far as being called "kidnappings" — with arrests often made by masked agents in unmarked vehicles.
As the raids continue, Dannica Ramirez of BuzzFeed asked US military members and veterans to share their thoughts, and they didn't hold back. Here's how they're reacting to the Trump administration's ICE raids:
1. "ICE should remove their masks. No other military or police force feels it necessary to cover their faces, so why them? Where's the integrity? They should stand by their actions if they are truly enforcing the law. I can't believe we are even having this conversation!"
—Sandra, 67, Army
2. "I was in the Marines, and I totally back our president. Those who don't are probably also on welfare or some kind of hand-out."
Well, what do you expect from Idiots?
3. "Vietnam veteran here. Our country is quickly becoming unrecognizable as the country I grew up in and served. We all took an oath to defend the Constitution, and that oath is for life. It does not end when you are discharged. It would be well for all of my brothers to remember that. It is horrible to watch how people are being treated by this administration. Change must come, or we are doomed as a nation."
—grouchysword333 (Scott, 72, North Carolina, Navy)
4. "When I took the oath, the power of the words made me numb. Over the years, those words have burrowed deeper into my brain. And when I see videos of ICE behaving like Nazi goons, I feel nauseous. I think of all those ol' uncles who served in Europe and the Pacific — who bled and died — and I feel a deep betrayal. I remember an ol' vet who said in a raspy twang: 'We beat those Nazi bastards once, and we will beat 'em again.'"
5. "I stand by President Trump 100%! ICE, you're doing a great job!"
—Jeff, 71, Montana, USAF
Once again, what can you expect from Idiots?
6. "Stand tall, brothers and sisters who took the oath to support the Constitution against all foes, foreign AND domestic. These so-called ICE agents who come from the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers don't belong anywhere near American citizens, period. They shouldn't be in our streets or in our cities doing Donny's dirty work, either. They crap on our Constitution daily, and we must hold them and the GOP accountable. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER WHAT THEY HAVE DONE."
7. "I think the raids should be ramped up exponentially. The bottom line is that if you are here illegally, you should be deported. This has absolutely nothing to do with skin color or racism. There are Mexican, Irish, and African citizens in my circle and community who are here legally and wholeheartedly agree with ICE deporting illegal immigrants. They agree because they have enough common sense not to be involved in anything illegal. They know that if they do and get caught, they will pay the consequences — just like anyone who commits a crime. The children born to these criminals are not legal citizens, either. The illegal parents are to blame for the children being deported. Don't commit a crime if you can't handle the outcome of your illegal choices. I've been arrested before, and I fully cooperated and served my time. I was a man and an adult about it because I did wrong."
"I got caught and paid the price in jail, and I didn't cry and moan about it. Every illegal has to be wiped from this country because it's their own fault. Life is hard, and doing it illegally makes it harder for many people. President Trump is the greatest leader this country has ever had, and I wish we could have him serve indefinitely. Get legal, get a job, and enjoy the freedom the United States provides for its LEGAL citizens."
—Thomas, 54, Tennessee, Marines
So, tell me what this Marine is saying beyond drivel while wheezing and hacking received truths but not saying anything worthwhile (except to himself) or hearing by the citizens of this country. If Thomas thinks Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then he probably believes in the tooth fairy as well!
8. "I'm a naturalized citizen and an Air Force veteran. I've noticed over the years a serious deterioration of our Constitutional rights. It reminds me of the way things are in my country or origin. Whenever anyone expressed they felt their rights were being violated, I started saying, 'You don't actually believe you're free, do you?' I'll say it again: You don't actually believe you're free, do you?"
9. "I am a veteran and a former police officer, and I find ICE's behavior reprehensible and unconstitutional. I am also seriously disappointed that Americans who claim to be 'patriots' continue to support this lawless administration, which continues to lie and misinform the American people."
10. "I love this! Trump is gonna be the greatest president in my lifetime! Can we swap Minnesota, California, Illinois, and New York for Greenland, please? Those are four states that hate America!"
—Anonymous, 60, Illinois, Navy
If I had written drivel like this I’d be sure to sign it as anonymous too. Trump the greatest president, sounds like an XXX Rated movie title.
11. "This orange fuckhead has been an asshole, piece of shit grifter since day one. For anyone in human history to believe he would ever do anything to benefit this country needs a damn straitjacket. Donald Trump spits on the Constitution; he hates America. Shame on MAGA forever. Signed, a pissed off Marine combat veteran."
12. "Those who came illegally and committed crimes need to be sent back home permanently. They have forfeited any chance remaining in our country, and I support ICE and Trump in removing them. Those who are here illegally but are contributing, working, and building a life for themselves should be treated with compassion and given an opportunity to contribute to our country and economy."
—Kirk, 67, Navy (22 years retired CPO)
I’m not sure where this guy is actually coming from, pro ICE or pro illegals?
13. "It's heartbreaking to watch the Trump Gestapo beat, gas, shoot, and humiliate people on American soil. This is only going to get more violent when people stop protesting and start shooting. It needs to stop. NOW. When I served during the Vietnam War, making America great meant making it great for EVERYONE."
14. "What is happening in this country is an outright disgrace. The administration's lack of respect for the law and the Constitution is incomprehensible. There is no qualified person appointed to the cabinet — just a group of yes-men and women. As for ICE, a group of wannabe military or police who couldn't make it in those ranks, are terrorizing whole populations and hiding their faces. There's no legitimate excuse for hiding their faces, because if they were doing lawful activities, they wouldn't feel the need to. As for the MAGA crew, you call yourselves Christians, but you and your leader have no concept of what being a Christian means. Supporting the most morally corrupt individual in recent history shows that your political compass is more important than your moral one (if you even have one). I can go on forever, but that's enough for now."
—Bill, New York, Marines
15. "I love what Trump is doing. Law and order is the rule of law, and he should keep it up. I think he is doing a fine job, and I love ICE. Deport them all."
—Victor, USMC veteran
Hey Victor, do you gave the intelligence to differentiate between right and wrong. And what does “Law and order is the rule of law..” mean, sounds like some form of a non sequitur.
16. "I'm a veteran of the Vietnam era, and I'm a firm believer that immigrants should be here legally. But to treat them as if they're the worst criminals on earth is wild. And what about the employers who have invited them to come to the US with the promise of jobs? I don't see them paying a price. What's happening now in our country is why so many people around the world look down on US citizens. We are proving them right. I'm ashamed of our government; it's not working the way it's supposed to. Our democracy is failing, and it's the worst of the worst trying to destroy it. Christians just don't behave like this."
—Anonymous
17. "Absolutely NOT what I fought for. This complete administration is a failure to the American people and will, if able, run this country into the ground."
18. "Illegal is illegal no matter which way it gets said! Come into the United States legally, and I have no complaints. What's getting done needs to be done, but there has got to be a better way! As I've seen in other posts, self-deport and come back legally!"
—Dave, Tennessee, Marines
19. "There's no veteran who understands anything about the Constitution that would agree with what's going on in America today, and what ICE and the Trump administration are doing. Children should not be separated from their families, and no human being, illegal or not, should be arrested by masked bandits. We all know that everything this administration is doing is completely illegal, and we need to stand up for what is right. Just like other criminals, Trump and ICE agents should be prosecuted and imprisoned."
—Ike, 48, Texas, Army
20. "EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE ICE AGENTS SHOULD BE FIRED BY THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION."
—A, New York, Air Force veteran
21. "We certainly have an illegal immigration problem in America. For many years, politicians kicked the can down the road, and this is the result: an administration that leans toward fascism, an insurrectionist leading this country with policies and executive orders that further divide and allow for abuses of power, and a Supreme Court that stamps all actions by the administration. There's a House that's truly divided, a Senate that has acquiesced to its powers, and an ICE agency that runs in a similar fashion as the SS or Nazi Germany. As a country and democracy, we are in deep, dark waters. Make no mistake, though. If war comes to the people, as real American patriots, we will use all we have learned to defend our Constitution and protect what's left of our way of life from tyranny."
—crunchytrout785 (Sergeant USMC)
22. "I am a US Army veteran. While serving my country, one of my main responsibilities was to protect it from the nefarious actions I now see ICE taking. If you are in America illegally, then yes, you should be deported. That said, there is absolutely no excuse for these jack-booted, masked, Gestapo thugs to be intimidating and physically abusing ANYONE! They have never been about deporting the 'worst of the worst.' And now, apparently unable and unconcerned with doing that, EVERYONE is fair game, including US citizens. Fuck our president and the Gestapo goon ICE agents, plus the Homeland Security and Border Patrol agents who act with impunity, believing might makes right!"
23. "ICE activities, as currently being conducted, are unconstitutional, illegal, and morally reprehensible. Under our Constitution, everyone is afforded due process, something the DHS has failed to do. Even US citizens and residents are being harassed and swept up without due process. Babies are being gassed, children are being pepper-sprayed, and people are getting murdered. This litany of abuses and atrocities is reminiscent of 1930s Nazy Germany and 1950s Soviet Union. Like the old POGO cartoon: 'We have met the enemy, and he is us.' Someone or some organization is keeping a video record of the horror we are experiencing, and when this nightmare is over, there will be a reckoning."
—Dan, 76, New Mexico, Marine Corps
Well, it’s six for, sixteen against Trump and his gang of hooligans with one split ballot. That’s good news. But please read very carefully the idiotic comments of the pro Trump/pro hate responders who voice their thoughts with a general sense of callous stupidity or credulous mockery in support of the evils being visited on our country.
I’ve noted some of the above comments in red, blue and purple colors to highlight some of the important issues being raised, all anti-Trump/anti-ICE.
I use orange to highlight Trump and Ice support comments along with my responses in Italics Type Face.
For me as a veteran I am very pleased with my fellow service members who stayed away from making stupid comment the Coalition is so fond of; and instead wrote with insightful, engaging and serious comments about the current state our country is in. It’s refreshing to me to see there are those out there who see through the Smoke-and-Mirrors of the Trump Administration. I’m not alone!
And as a veteran I’m very disturbed about the blatant disparaging remarks Trump has made about military personnel, both active duty or veterans. But what is most disturbing is that so few people who have or still wear a uniform have failed to speak out against this foul mouthed buffoon.
And where have the Democrats, especially the DNC, been in capitalizing on these disparaging comments, or just saying something, anything, in defense of military personnel? The Dems are simply missing-in-action!
